Rupert Murdoch joins Associated Press board.

Today, the Associated Press announced at its annual meeting that Rupert Murdoch, chairman and chief executive officer of News Corp., is joining its board of directors. Three other media moguls are also joining the board, including Sam Zell, who recently “took control of Tribune Co. after leading a buyout that resulted in the publicly traded company becoming private.”

Breach of contract and unfair competition
In November 2010 the Associated Press was sued by iCopyright. iCopyright's lawsuit asserts breach of contract and unfair competition in that the Associated Press launched a copyright-tracking registry, built upon information and business intelligence that the AP misappropriated from iCopyright.[9]

Rice Decries Putin's Power Grab
Comments (0) Share on Facebook Bookmark and Share

WASHINGTON (AP) - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Thursday that Russian President Vladimir Putin's moves to consolidate power are troubling. Just ahead of her departure for Moscow next week, Rice said the United States and Russia are working well together on a number of issues but that the overall ties remained "complicated" by a rollback in reforms and Russia's contentious relations with its neighbors.

"On many things we have done very well, but the fact is that on some others it's been a difficult period," she said of the U.S.-Russia relationship.
Her comments, in testimony to a Senate Appropriations subcommittee, came a day after Putin delivered oblique but pointed criticism at a Victory Day parade in Red Square of perceived U.S. domination in global affairs, warning the world faces threats like those before World War II.
Rice did not directly address Putin's remarks but said Russia appeared unwilling to accept close U.S. ties with former Soviet states in eastern and central Europe where Moscow has strongly criticized Washington's plans to deploy a missile defense system.

Anti-Western Rhetoric
---------------------
8. (C) XXXXXXXXXXX acknowledged the large volume of anti-Western rhetoric that has figured prominently in the recent months leading up to the election. However, he said that the Russian public does not necessarily share these sentiments, and is rather more neutral, if not positive, toward the U.S., despite the drumbeat of propaganda. XXXXXXXXXXX argued that Russian society is not aggressive, but instead suffers from passivity and apathy. Nonetheless, XXXXXXXXXXX added, he was optimistic that while the leadership was moving backwards in many senses, society was advancing and transforming into something more open, tolerant, and Western. He encouraged the U.S. to continue to work with society to progress in this direction for the long term. RICE

2. Alex Jones reported...
"We have received word from numerous different sources that CNN is trying to bait 9/11 truth activists to appear as guests on its programs and attack Charlie Sheen.
WTC survivor and truth activist William Rodriguez was contacted by the Anderson Cooper show and asked if he would go on record as saying the new Pentagon footage dispelled all 9/11 questions. They also requested that he attack Charlie Sheen's public stance on 9/11.
After Rodriguez refused to take the bait and said he supports Sheen 100% CNN cancelled his appearance even as the car to pick him up was en route.
Lawyer Philip Berg and philanthropist Jimmy Walters were also approached by CNN and promised TV time if they agreed to debunk Charlie Sheen. Both refused."

Inside the World Trade Center after the attacks

December 19, 2001 Posted: 9:53 PM EST (0253 GMT)
HARRIS: Something else, too. You say the elevator mechanics who were there, who were called in immediately after impact in the North Tower, actually left when the second impact happened. Is it clear that if they stayed there could have been a different outcome?
CAUCHON: There is no way to know what would have happened. The World Trade Center has perhaps the biggest elevator system in the world, 198 elevators, and there were 83 mechanics on duty in the building, just to maintain and modernize the system. The emergency plan calls for them all gathering in the lobby. When the second plane hit, they left the building. At the time, there were dozens of people still trapped in the elevators, and some of them ended up dying in the elevators.
HARRIS: Were any of [ the mechanics] ever called into the South Tower?
CAUCHON: Yes. Actually, the mechanics were scattered in the North and South Towers. After the first plane hit, they gathered in the lobby of the South Tower. When they were there in the lobby, the second plane hit the South Tower, and they left.

9/11 masterminds ‘failed to achieve ultimate goals’ - Russian Foreign Ministry

Published: 12 September, 2011, 17:00
Excerpt:
The individuals who carried out the attacks on the morning of September 11, 2001 on US soil failed to attain the desired result, which was to break the will of the global community in the face of an unmitigated global nightmare.
Calling the barbaric events of 9/11 “provocative and cruel,” the Foreign Ministry said the attacks were designed to take advantage of the fear that would result from such a massive display of terror against innocent people.
"It is obvious that, in planning such provocative and cruel attacks, the terrorists hoped to sow fear and attain the maximum effect in doing this. They succeeded in some sense, but ultimately this was something absolutely different from what they expected," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on the weekend.

Claims that the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 were orchestrated by US intelligence agencies are "complete nonsense," Prime Minister Vladimir Putin told attendees of a youth forum.
"This is complete nonsense, it is impossible," Putin said on Monday, responding to a question posed by an attendee of the Seliger 2011 youth forum.
"To imagine that US intelligence services did it deliberately, with their own hands, is complete nonsense," the prime minister said. “Only people who do not understand the workings of security agencies can say that. It would be impossible to conceal it.”
Putin added that he could not imagine how "any of the current or former US leaders could have such an idea."
